What does an optometrist do?

An optometrist is a state licensed healthcare professional who examines, diagnoses, treats, and manages diseases and disorders of the visual system.

If you have other eye problems, the optometrist also might treat or refer you for further treatment for eye infections, red eyes, or dry eyes.
